The “Strike a Chord” Gala is Heartland Family Service’s largest annual fundraiser in Iowa, and all proceeds go to support the life-saving programs and services that Heartland Family Service offers to the thousands of clients in southwest Iowa served each year by the organization.
The gala’s theme was “Roaring 20s” and TS Bank’s Angela Avis, along with husband Ryan, served as the event’s honorary chairs. Major event sponsors included American National Bank, Lockton Companies, NuStyle Development, TS Bank, Ann & Ken Stinson, and Veridian Credit Union.
The “Strike a Chord” Gala was presented by Master of Ceremonies Matt Wilber as well as auctioneer Byron Menke, with entertainment by the Omaha Jitterbugs. As part of the event, the Annual Heartland Family Service Leadership Award was presented to Council Bluffs Mayor Matt Walsh and Heartland Family Service client, Kathryn Hunter was presented with the agency’s annual Achievement Award.
“This was our most successful Strike a Chord event in recent memory,” said Chief Development Officer Marzia Puccioni Shields. “Everyone was excited to be back in person, and that truly showed in the great success of the evening.”
Next year’s “Strike a Chord” Gala will take place on Friday, June 9, 2023.
About Heartland Family Service
Since 1875, Heartland Family Service has responded to the needs of our area’s most vulnerable children and families. Last year, our agency connected with over 140,000 individuals through direct services, education, and outreach. Our programs serve individuals of all ages — from infants in our Family Works program to seniors in our Generations Community Center. We operate from 19 locations in east central Nebraska and southwest Iowa. We provide critical human services to the individuals and families who ultimately shape the future of our community through the following program areas: Child & Family Well-Being, Counseling & Prevention, and Housing, Safety, & Financial Stability.
