Mental Health Crisis Response Teams

We provide immediate, in-person support for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crisis. Our trained teams respond directly to the community in homes, schools, and public spaces to assess needs, de-escalate situations, and connect individuals to appropriate resources.
Services are designed to reduce unnecessary law enforcement involvement, emergency room visits, and hospitalization whenever possible.

When to call: When you or someone else is experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis and needs immediate, in-person support from a local response team.

FUNDING

IA: Iowa Crisis Response services provided by Heartland Family Service receive funding from the following sources: 89%, $478,512, from IA Primary Care Association and 11%, $59,142, from nongovernmental sources.

NE: Nebraska Crisis Response services provided by Heartland Family Service receive funding from the following sources: 1) U.S Department of Health and Human Services -Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Block Grant Dollars – Federal Award Identifiers 93.958 and 93.959 (0%); 2) State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services/Division of Behavioral Health Funds (73%); and 3) local county dollars (14%) all running through Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare. Additionally, the program receives 2% of funding through fundraising from private donors.
