On November 14, 2020, a law signed in August by Governor Pete Ricketts, LB840, will take effect.  E-cigarettes will now be added as a tobacco product covered under the state’s smoke-free workplace law.  For more information about the changes to the Nebraska Clean Indoor Act statutory language and answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the law, please visit www.smokefree.ne.gov.

Employers have a short time to comply with the updated law, and the American Lung Association and Heartland Family Service want to assist with resources and support at no cost.

Businesses can receive free technical assistance to employers regarding strengthening, planning, implementing, complying, and maintaining smoke and tobacco-free policies, in addition to support for employees to quit tobacco.

The American Lung Association and the Metro Omaha Tobacco Action Coalition (MOTAC) invites Omaha businesses to learn about the benefits of a comprehensive tobacco-free or nicotine-free workplace and resources available.   This FREE workshop includes access to the following:

  • A tobacco-free workplace toolkit
  • Access to tobacco cessation resources
  • Technical assistance
