Employers have a short time to comply with the updated law, and the American Lung Association and Heartland Family Service want to assist with resources and support at no cost.
Businesses can receive free technical assistance to employers regarding strengthening, planning, implementing, complying, and maintaining smoke and tobacco-free policies, in addition to support for employees to quit tobacco.
The American Lung Association and the Metro Omaha Tobacco Action Coalition (MOTAC) invites Omaha businesses to learn about the benefits of a comprehensive tobacco-free or nicotine-free workplace and resources available. This FREE workshop includes access to the following:
- A tobacco-free workplace toolkit
- Access to tobacco cessation resources
- Technical assistance

MOTAC is part of the Heartland Family Service Prevention program and is comprised of more than 50 health-related individuals, organizations, and educational groups that strive to strengthen tobacco control and prevention efforts in the metro area. This coalition addresses tobacco-related issues through public education and community action, relying on community involvement to accomplish its mission.
