Heartland Family Service is in need of culturally appropriate, non-perishable food items for refugee families in the Omaha metro area. Donations can be dropped off at the Heartland Family Service Generations Community Center, located at 4318 Fort Street in Omaha, Monday through Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Below is a complete list of non-perishable items needed:

  • Cornmeal
  • Jasmine or Basmati rice
  • Vegetable oil
  • Tomato paste
  • Spices: curry powder, turmeric, beryani spice, chili, black pepper, thyme, cumin, cardamom, cloves, cilantro, ground masala, cinnamon, thai dried chile
  • Sauces: fish sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce (mushroom, sweet)
  • Sugar
  • Flour
  • Fried chicken batter mix
  • Baking powder
  • Baking yeast
  • Tea
  • Italian style pastas
  • Asian noodles
  • Canned fish
  • Beans (no bacon): white, kidney, pinto
  • Lentils, chickpeas, pulses
