American National Bank will be collecting socks and blankets for Heartland Family Service during Loessfest 2016 on Sunday, May 29 and Monday, May 30 at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park.

Guests attending the FREE the Kool & the Gang concert on May 29 and/or Fireworks for Freedom Omaha Symphony Concert on May 30 are encouraged to bring socks and blankets of all sizes to place in bins at the park prior to the events. The socks and blankets will fill basic needs for individuals and families in the metro area experiencing crisis, financial hardship or homelessness. In lieu of bringing donation items, guests can give by texting “HFS” to 72727 on their cell phones.

“We are just so grateful to American National Bank and Loessfest for sponsoring this drive and to the community for helping us continue our Good Works,” Heartland Family Service Chief Development Officer Donna Dostal says. “So to borrow from Kool & the Gang: Let’s celebrate Good Works, come on!”

When: 7 p.m., May 29 and 8 p.m., May 30

Location: Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park, Council Bluffs

Dropoff locations: Collection bins for socks and blankets will be scattered throughout the park, including at the base of the amphitheater and the walkway from Harrah’s Casino.

Beginning Memorial Day weekend, Loessfest showcases Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park, located at the foot of the Iowa side of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. The park is a regional amenity and Loessfest was created to celebrate all that it has to offer. Loessfest has drawn more than 100,000 people to the park in its first three years.

This year, American National Bank joined the City of Council Bluffs and the Iowa West Foundation as a presenting sponsor of Loessfest. In addition to the support of the three presenting sponsors and 36 additional generous sponsors, Loessfest will host a full lineup of free events beginning May 28.
