Heartland Family Service is a non-profit, non-sectarian counseling agency, founded in 1875. The mission the agency is to strengthen individuals and families in our community through education, counseling and support services. From sixteen locations, we serve people of all ages and all incomes — most on a sliding fee scale.

Heartland Family Service provides essential services to vulnerable children and families in the metro Omaha community. Each year we helped nearly 40,000 individuals—children who are removed from unsafe homes; teens who made the wrong decisions about alcohol, drugs or crime; low-income families, mostly women and children, who fall into homelessness; and many, many more who need a helping hand to get back on track.

Over the years, this agency has matured into a leadership role in this community on the cutting edge of research, services and collaborations. The organization’s strong mission and responsible management delivers impressive results that are critical to the stability of our community.

Just as we’ve done since 1875, Family Service has led the way in helping to keep children and families healthy, happy and strong. Helping people help themselves. It works.
