Become a volunteer . . . Give the time of your
life!
Volunteers are a critical part of the Heartland Family
Service team. We rely on our volunteers to diversify and expand
the services we can offer to our clients, as well as to promote
and raise funds for the agency. Volunteers are a key resource in
fulfilling our mission to strengthen individuals and families in
our community through education, counseling and support services.
The
fact is, without the help of our loyal volunteers, Heartland Family
Service would be unable to provide the type of services that we have
for 131 years. In 2007 alone, a total of 418 volunteers provided 10,226
hours of service to our programs. The dollar value of these volunteer
hours equals $188,053.50. These figures illustrate how volunteers
extend our capacity to reach more people than our staff alone could
ever serve.
Heartland Family Service has volunteer opportunities for a variety
of interests. We are willing to accommodate your schedule as we have
opportunities during day and evening hours. Some programs even have
weekend opportunities. We can work with both long- and short-term
volunteers. However, many volunteer opportunities are fundamental
to the program they serve, and ask for a three-month time commitment.
