Spook-O-Rama, a Halloween benefit for the Heartland Family Service Domestic Abuse program was a “spook-tacular” success. Spook-O-Rama was held on Oct. 28 at Tara Hills Park in Papillion. About 80 Papillion-area high school and college student volunteers and parents worked to prepare the one-night-only event, transforming the park into transformed into two separate age-specific attractions: Kidz Kraze for young children and AlienNation for the brave of heart!
Spook-O-Rama was founded in 2000 when Jessie Freeman (a former Papillion High School student), and her friends wanted to do something that would replace their love of trick or treating. She and her mother, Paula Freeman, decided that whatever they would do, it needed to have a purpose and serve our community. In addition to collecting personal care and baby supplies for residents of our Safe Haven Domestic Abuse Shelter, the event itself raised $3700. A matching grant from the Lozier Corporation doubled the contribution to $7400!
